Job Description Summary / TWC Summary

Responsible for functions related to teaching methods and foundations courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; advising both undergraduate and graduate students; supervising student teachers; engaging in scholarly activities in areas relevant to the department and college; and assuming departmental and college committee responsibilities.

Essential Duties Summary

Teaching methods, foundations and content curriculum courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Advising undergraduate and graduate students. Supervising student teachers and participation in field based programs & practicum programs. Engaging in scholarly research. Serving on departmental and college committees. Participating in professional activities including internal and external conferences and seminars. Other duties within the range of skills normally associated with a position of this classification in an evolving teaching and learning environment.

Education

Earned Doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Literacy Education or related field in Education.

Required Licensing/Certification

Must be teacher certified (or have held teacher certification)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Applicants should be dynamic individuals who can engage in continued curricular development, excellence in teaching, and scholarly activity, and growth in funded research. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to secure grants both local and federal is preferred.

Work Experience

Three to five (3 to 5) years of public school teaching at the elementary, middle or secondary school level; evidence of ability to integrate technology into instruction; and, demonstrated capacity to design, develop and deliver course materials.

(Preferred or Desirous) university teaching experience; evidence of public service and scholarly activity; and, familiarity with diverse educational settings
